I started The Development Collab in 2014 under its previous incarnation, Coach Creative, to formalise my coaching and training practice. At that time, having ventured out of the world of employment in my early 30s and feeling like I had retired, I took a gap year to study coaching full time and explore what I wanted to offer next.

I realised from the start that I would only be able to implement programmes of the magnitude, variety and depth that I wanted to, by collaborating with others. To this day I collaborate with a network of coaches, facilitators and consultants to deliver a wide range of services. That collaboration also extends to my clients reflecting the manner in which we work together.

And so The Development Collab was born.

What will you do with your one wild and precious life?

1:1 coaching

As my own work has evolved, I have become increasingly curious about the role of work in living an inspired life. I gravitate towards helping people to make a shift in their work, using a holistic approach to help them identify and overcome what is holding them back and move towards where they would like to be.

When I first became a coach there seemed to be so many messages about the importance of finding your niche but that felt so narrow to me.

My clients come from a wide variety of backgrounds, career levels and stages of life. They include individuals entering the workplace for the first time, wanting to find more enjoyment and fulfilment in an existing role, moving into a new role or down a new career path, shifting the nature of how they work (e.g. self-employed, permanent employment, contract work, embarking on a new venture or freelancing) or moving into retirement.

In my work with teams and managers, my intention is to help create a thriving workplace.

I design programmes to meet the specific objectives of organisations, teams, individuals and managers.

I believe in a strengths-based approach and that regular, intentional engagement and open communication can transform workplace culture.

Recognising the pivotal role of managers in any organisation’s success, much of the training I offer focuses on helping managers to manage better.

CA2025 consulting and training

I started my career in accounting and continue to recommend this career path to anyone who asks me. It has opened so many doors for me, not only in the accounting-specific roles that I have held but till this day it is apparent in my networks, clients and the way in which I work.

My early work as a coach and facilitator focused on supporting accounting students and trainees. Collaborating with various universities and a network of coaches, I have run life skills development programmes for over a thousand individual accounting students, with repeat contact with many of these students over the course of their academic careers and the “Big Picture” workshops I ran for many years, laid the foundation for hundreds of trainees to integrate their work into their vision for life.

Over time my portfolio evolved to include working directly with the SAICA training programme, through contracting as a SAICA training office reviewer and quality assurer and, during the covid-19 lockdown, stepping into the role of Project Director: Training and facilitating the initial implementation of the CA2025 Training Programme.

My work with SAICA and CA2025 continues as a member of the Training Programme Sub-Committee, an active participant in the CA2025 Training Programme Working Group and a member of the Assessor Portfolio of Evidence marking team.

I consult directly to SAICA training offices and collaborate with various service providers on the ongoing implementation of CA2025.
